Yesterday Today and Tomorrow March 17, 2017
Things have been pretty much status quo the last 14 days. There has been numerous quakes, some as large as a 6.5 but nothing caused any major damage or injuries.
The largest quakes was in Papua New Guinea.. it came in at 6.5 if you follow the magnitude on the West Coast Tsunami Warning Center.
The symptoms were L sided rib pains… which can begin at the base of the bottom rib and go all the way up above the top rib. Some persons in Oceania will experience the symptoms on the opposite side of the body.
Coalinga/ Parkfield, Avenal, Bakersfield, Fresno, Grapevine/Castaic CA… temple to temple, stomach pains and achy heart pains, earaches are plugged and pressured more than pain, like what you experience when changing elevations. * tied into Sierras activity especially with Bishop *
This is a synopsis of the Coalinga quake and what transpired for me leading up to it and after the 6.7 event.
As I stated in my previous email update above, I was watching for activity in Coalinga etc.. there has been numerous quakes near Avenal and Parkfield, and Coalinga the numbers are not high but far above the usual.. that would be 52 quakes in the last 6 days. These quakes for my symptoms I would identify as volcanic or geothermal quakes. I have a friend/Sensitive who lived near Coalinga before the May 3rd quake, up till then I thought this was a basic quake. But after talking with my friend/sensitive who lived in the area she said, if I remember the incident, her husband was up on a area away from the quake and he had noticed some changes in the pressure in the wells * gauges * before the quake hit but what was the kicker for me was that she mentioned that her husband reported feeling the heat through the souls of his boots.. now that is not quake, but it can certainly be volcanic or perhaps even geothermal activity.
I also remember I had called the quake in to OES in Sacramento before the event. I was not 100% certain as to the location as it was a relatively new area. I had achy chest pains, all over headache and mostly my ears were plugged and pressured. I had called the quake prediction in to KCRA in Sacramento.
I was lazily lounging on a floater in our apt complex pool, all the sudden the float began to shake I opened my eyes to see who was shaking me and found that there was no one there and the water was sloshing out of the pool.. it was really shaking.
So there was a press conference some months after the quake, they invited me to go to Coalinga with them for the news story. The ride down was fairly uneventful. As we neared Coalinga, the quake symptoms began to manifest. The first thing they did was want to go to the West Hills College where they were having the official USGS and local information news meeting. As we got near to the building, I was getting ancy, and agitated.
I had been invited to the meeting and when we arrived, I told them I could not go in they said that there was little if any damage from the quake in that area, I basically in a nice way told them I did not care if there was damage or not, I was not going in. So the reporters went in and we agreed to be back in about 45 minutes for the raw tape to send back to Sacramento. The news team I was with decided we would get something to drink so we headed to an A&W Root Beer spot.. again I had that distinct feeling I wanted to run, and again I was told, “ This area was not bothered in the initial quake in May 83” Again I refused to go to the restaurant/ I preferred to sit in the KCRA truck a ways away from the root beer stand.
Finally it was time to go back and pick up the raw footage for the afternoon news. We arrived, one of the two people in the van walked up and picked up the film and the reporters went back inside I believe I recall they were invited to a luncheon. We headed for the airport there were stock yards all through the area and I was getting that scared feeling. This was the 3rd time that feeling of fight or flight came over me.. the airport was fairly benign and once again I was assured, this was an area where little if any damage occurred from the initial quake.
If I recall my data later reports will show that 309 homes were destroyed as well as 33 apartment buildings and over 588 homes, 94 mobile homes and 39 apartments sustained major damage and most public buildings, police stations, post office, fire station and hospital sustained only minor damage.
Thankfully the 60 bridges in the quake area sustained mostly superficial damage, small cracks etc.
So we turned into the airport, and there was a pilot waiting for the film and he would fly it to Sacramento where it would be picked up by another of the new team at the Sacramento Airport. So finally it was time to go and I could not have been happier. All I could tell them was that I was not happy about how I felt and I was very uneasy to go into the 3 areas I previously mentioned.
Oh I wanted to make a note here about something I read and saved some time ago. This kind of fits in to the oil well gauges I mentioned earlier.
In the oil fields near Coalinga, surface facilities such as pumping units, storage tanks, pipelines, and support buildings were all damaged to some degree. One oil company administration building, about 7 km (4.3 mi) north of Coalinga, sustained major structural damage and its two brick chimneys were toppled. Subsurface damage, including collapsed or parted well casing, was observed only on 14 of 1,725 active wells.
Was this a man made quake? They said it was a unknown, a “Basement fault “ a Thrust Fault. It was an unknown fault 7 miles underground.
So why did I feel as I did that day? This is what I found out from FEMA and other emergency planners and USGS personnel and the KCRA news team which called me to share the information of the aftershock. The Aftershock was 5.4 and was quite shallow.
There was a felt aftershock shortly after our visit to Coalinga. Although there had been some minor damage at West Hills College, this event cracked windows and the college swimming pool. The A&W Root Beer Stand was also damaged, which had escaped damage in the earlier quake and at the airport some miles from the city, the runway sustained cracks and ruptured tarmac. So I had been picking this up about a week before the quake. That is the way that the quakes sometimes happen and how I pick them up sometimes up to a week in advance.
A minor earthquake occurred at 8:50:28 AM (PDT) on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
The magnitude 3.3 event occurred 13 km (8 miles) NW of Avenal, CA.
The hypo-central depth is 9 km ( 6 miles).
