Journey to Rural Living (Part 2) |
|
Our fifth baby arrived the same week as the sale of both houses, our second daughter Sarah. Naturally that kept us from doing much serious househunting for a time. Our plan was to build a house, our dream home. We'd spent the better part of a year sketching and changing the design of this house. Four bedrooms, two full baths, laundry room on the main floor (instead of the basement) and a big front porch with a porch swing. |

In the late 1980's we felt impressed to pursue some sort of "ministry" calling, but we didn't know what that would mean. We knew that to get our lives into a place where the Lord could use us, we needed to be out of debt to be as free as possible. We also felt very impressed that we needed to locate our family away from the cities, in a rural setting. |

Our church was holding a series of outreach meetings in the community and were enjoying a good attendance night after night. On Sunday, about an hour before the meeting, a huge storm rolled up. Big angry clouds and wind, lightning and ground-shaking thunder. |
